Originally, we had had our pool built 12 years ago and as it very quickly deteriorated my wife Pam and I felt quite disappointed with the work.

I therefore, called quite a few companies to quote the renovation but was also hoping for pool ideas, suggestions that I could take into consideration when deciding what to do, most came and quoted us based on what the “standard” pool renovation required and did not seem to really listen or understand what Pam and I were hoping to achieve.

Andrew from Local Pool Renovations came over and we got along with him immediately, he listened to what we had to say even though we found it hard to express what we were imagining for our pool.

Andrew was very observant, suggesting that by the statues & decorations my wife has around the house that what we might be looking for is a Balinese style pool. He was absolutely correct.

When we received our quote we thought the prices were a little high but very reasonable, We received quotes with similar prices, what stood out for us was that unlike the other companies Andrew didn’t just quote the pool, he managed to quote the entire setting around the pool as well, making this quote a true standout and very competitive.

Andrew did most of the work himself with the help of his assistant Michael, including the bamboo and the merbau screening, they were very particular and detailed about everything they did.

We couldn’t be any happier,

When I spoke to Andrew I told him that even though this is my backyard I tell everyone that this is his swimming pool!”

Pool Renovation

“I am absolutely thrilled I decided on Local Pool Renovations to do my pool renovation. The pool and surrounds were an absolute disaster with bare concrete inside the pool & cracking all around the pool.

There was a leak under 5 inches of concrete & Andrew recommended a plumber to find and repair it. At no extra charge Andrew cut a big slab of the concrete out to allow access to the leak and once the leak was fixed re-concreted the area. The plumber also provided and installed all new pool equipment – salt chlorinator, pump and sand filter.

The waterline tiles were in bad condition and difficult to remove but the team from Local Pool Renovations tirelessly and painstakingly removed them all and replaced them with beautiful new blue ones. The surface of the pool was professionally prepared before 3 coats of pool paint were applied.

A new pool light was installed as well which gives the pool a most brilliant look at night, really creating an atmosphere.

Next was the repair of the pool surrounds – an area of old pebble mix which had a lot of cracking all over the place. The concrete was uneven in places so a grinder was used to level it as much as possible and then the cracks were filled with a silicone substance prior to the whole area being cleaned and rendered. Then after we changed our mind several times about colour, the boys from Local Pool Renovations applied two coats of the paving paint around the pool and a different colour on the coping area. The finished result was fantastic and all of our friends have been amazed at the transformation.

Throughout the whole process Andrew offered many helpful suggestions and nothing was too much trouble for him.

He was meticulous in everything he did, right to the end, leaving the place spic & span. My wife & I couldn’t be happier – thanks Andrew for a wonderful job!!
