When some pool owners hear the word “pebble”, they imagine the rough swimming pool interiors from the 1980s and 1990s. Modern pebble interiors are very different. They are now available in smoother, non-slip finishes with customisable colours, making them a practical and attractive option for concrete swimming pool resurfacing. Quartzon was once a very popular pool interior finish, but as many pool owners discovered how it can deteriorate over time, pebble interiors became a stronger option again. Many people do not realise how smooth and refined modern pebble finishes can now be. A properly installed rendered pool interior can provide excellent durability when compared with older Quartzon, Marblesheen and traditional pool plaster surfaces.

Can concrete bar stools be installed in a swimming pool?

Concrete bar stools can be installed inside a swimming pool during a renovation. The strongest and safest option is to build them into the pool shell, rather than using removable or lightweight stools. Removable bar stools are temporary, can age badly, and may become dangerous because they can topple over. Swimmers, especially children, may also try to jump from them, so any swimming pool bar chair/stool should be as secure as possible. Metal bar stools usually need to be bolted into the concrete, and over time they may loosen. Anything metal in or around a swimming pool may also need to be electrically earthed according to local regulations, so it is important to check the rules that apply in your state. Swimming Pool Bar Stool installation

Swimming pool bar stools are a great addition to a pool, especially when there is no spa attached and you are interested in the area being designed for entertaining and relaxing. Built-in pool stools, underwater bar seats / swim-up bar seating allow you to sit comfortably inside the water while enjoying the pool area. This style of in-pool seating works especially well for outdoor entertainment areas, where televisions, BBQ areas and poolside seating have become popular features in many modern homes. For this renovation, the concrete pool stools were built into the swimming pool shell, creating strong, permanent pool bar seating that feels like part of the pool. We always focus on delivering work that looks like it was always meant to be, designed that way from the start.

This customer requested a complete pool renovation with an additional request to build a bar inside the swimming pool. What we did: Modified the shallow side of the pool coping/paving by making it 650mm larger to create the arm rests and bar-top area.

• Resurfaced the pool interior.
• Tiled the bar stools and the edges of the steps.
• Finished the stool seat / top using a flamed non-slip black granite. A drinking bar inside a pool is not a very common request, but it certainly adds to the entertainment area!
