Before
AfterWhat is the best pool interior? Our customer Peter did his own research and found that going fully tiled was the best pool interior possible for longevity, maintenance & magnificent looks.
Fully Tiled Pool Renovation
Swimming pool tiling renovation Our customer Peter had already done his own research before choosing the finish for his pool. He understood that a fully tiled swimming pool is one of the most durable and visually impressive pool interiors available, offering long term performance, easier maintenance, and a premium finish that does not date quickly. This was a large and detailed pool tiling renovation, and because of the size and precision required, I worked alongside my father Eugene from Eugene’s Pool & Spa Renovations. Together, we carefully worked through every detail of the pool, from preparation through to tile set out and finishing. It was one of those jobs that stayed with me, not only because of the result, but because it was a special moment working side by side with my father on a project of this scale.

Tiling Renovation This pool was originally built in the 1980s and had reached the stage where it needed a proper renovation. The customer wanted the pool restored so he could enjoy it with his grandchildren, but the interior was badly worn, the pool paint had broken down, and the old waterline tiles were coming loose. After doing his own research, the customer decided that a fully tiled swimming pool was the best long term option. Pool tiles are one of the most durable interior finishes available, with excellent longevity, easier maintenance, and a premium appearance that gives an older pool a completely renewed feel. There was also a fern growing between the pool steps and the spa, which was constantly making the water dirty. The customer asked us to remove it, and we suggested making better use of the area by enlarging the spa and adding a safety rail between the pool and spa. As the customer was in his early 90s, the aim was not only to improve the appearance of the pool, but also to make access safer and easier. The old paint was removed as much as possible, and the pool walls were rendered to help straighten and prepare the surface for tiling. The spa was enlarged, the pool was prepared correctly, and the renovation was then ready for the tile installation. We tiled the pool using Powder Blue ceramic pool tiles, with the top row inside the spa finished in Duck Blue ceramic tiles. For the coping pavers, we used teak sandstone, which was also carried through onto the spa floor and pool steps. Using sandstone underwater requires careful preparation. The stone was sealed multiple times with a penetrating sealer and installed with high strength adhesive and additives suitable for submerged conditions. The extra preparation was worth it, because the underwater sandstone gave the pool a unique finish and a real wow factor.
